Mustache Transplant Procedure

A mustache transplant is a surgical procedure where hair follicles from one part of the body, usually the back of the head, are transplanted to the upper lip to create or enhance a mustache. It is typically done for individuals who have difficulty growing a full mustache or have lost facial hair due to injury, scarring, or medical conditions.

Process of Mustache Transplant

1. Initial consultation: The patient meets with a qualified surgeon to discuss their goals, medical history, and suitability for the procedure.
2. Donor hair extraction: Hair follicles are harvested from the donor area, usually the back of the head, using micro FUE technique.
3. Preparation of recipient area: The upper lip area is prepared by creating tiny incisions or recipient sites where the transplanted hair follicles will be placed.
4. Hair graft placement: The extracted hair follicles are carefully implanted into the recipient sites, ensuring proper angulation and density to achieve natural-looking results.
5. Post-operative care: The patient is given instructions on how to care for the transplanted area, which may include medication, gentle washing, and avoiding certain activities that may disrupt the healing process.
6. Recovery and growth: Over several months, the transplanted hair follicles go through a shedding phase before new hair starts to grow. Full growth and results can be seen within 6 to 12 months after the procedure.
